Create a YouTube Feed on Your Website

This tutorial will equip you to:

  1. Create a feed using the YouTube Feed Pro plugin by Smash Balloon, which comes pre-installed with the Premium Church Website package.
  2. Embed the feed into any page using the Cornerstone page editor, which comes with all SermonView Evangelism Websites.

This article assumes you have already connected your YouTube account to your website using the instructions found here:

Creating a Feed

Step 1:

Navigate to “YouTube Feed” in the lefthand navigation menu.

Step 2:

Click the button labeled “+Add New”.

Step 3:

Choose the type of feed you wish to create.  The wizard will give you several options with descriptions.  Click the one that best suits your needs to highlight it.

Step 4:

Click the “Next” button.

Step 5:

Type your YouTube Channel ID or Username in the field shown.

Step 6:

Click the “Next” button again.

Step 7:

Choose your desired feed template.  This will be the layout of your feed.

Step 8:

Click “Next”.  It will take a moment for the software to generate your feed.

Step 9:

Rename your feed by clicking the pencil icon next to the Feed Title at the top of the editor frame.  You will want to name the feed something which indicates what it is being used for, such as “Church YouTube channel feed for Sermons page”.

Step 10:

Adjust the settings to your liking via the “Customize” and “Settings” tabs.  You can change the look and feel of your feed, as well as the functionality to suit your needs.  As you make changes to the settings, you will see them reflected in the “Preview” pane.  The “Preview” pane shows what your feed will look like once it is embedded on a page on your website.  Note the view icons in the top-left area of the “Preview” pane.  Clicking these icons will allow you to see what your feed will look like on different screen sizes.

Step 11:

Once you are happy with your feed, click the “Save” button located in the top-left area of the page.

Publishing Your Feed

Step 1:

In a separate tab or window, open the Cornerstone page editor by clicking “Cornerstone” in the lefthand menu.

Step 2:

Click on the page where you would like your feed to appear.

Step 3:

Click on the element in the preview pane or outline area where you would like to add your feed.

Step 4:

Click the “+” icon within that element.  You will see a dropdown menu with several options.  Type the word “raw”, and choose the “Raw Content” element.

Step 5:

Go back to your YouTube Feed tab or window and click the “Embed” button in the top-right area of the page.  Copy the text that appears.

Step 6:

Return to the tab or window where you have Cornerstone open and click the magnifying glass icon on the Raw Content element.

Step 7:

Paste the embed code you copied from your feed into this text area.  It may appear distorted in the preview pane.

Step 8:

Click “Save” in the top-righthand corner of the screen.

Step 9:

Navigate to the page where you added your feed to ensure it is displaying to your liking.
